TL;DR
Are ChatGPT Ads creative enhancements on by default?
Yes. Starting today, ChatGPT Ads can rewrite your ad text and pick a different landing page unless you opt out. Your ads may show wording you never wrote. Check the setting in Ads Manager, check each campaign, and fix any old prices on your site.
What changed in ChatGPT Ads on October 30?
OpenAI's Help Center says "creative enhancements" turn on by default for new and existing ChatGPT Ads campaigns on Friday, October 30, 2026. With them on, the system can:
- Rewrite headlines and descriptions to fit the conversation a person is having with ChatGPT.
- Translate your ad text into other languages.
- Resize your images to fit different spots.
- Change the destination URL to another page on your own website.
OpenAI's help page says these variations can run automatically without you reviewing or approving each one, and that the experience "does not provide a preview of every variation."
Why does this matter for small advertisers?
The AI builds new versions of your ad partly from your website. If a landing page still shows last month's price, an expired promo or a claim you'd never put in an ad, that text can end up in front of customers.
Say a salon has an old "first cut US$20" banner on a page it forgot about. A rewritten ad could point people there, and the front desk ends up explaining a deal that ended in the summer. (Example · fictional.)
The destination change matters too. You may have built a landing page for one offer, and the system can send the click to a different page on your site.
How do you opt out of ChatGPT Ads creative enhancements?
OpenAI keeps any opt-outs you already set at the account or campaign level. The order matters:
| Setting level | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Account | The default for all your campaigns |
| Campaign | Overrides the account default for that campaign |
So turning it off for the account isn't enough on its own if a campaign is set differently. OpenAI's help page says to change your settings in Ads Manager by selecting Manage settings. Check the account setting there, then open each campaign and check its setting too.

Our take
Letting AI test ad versions can work well, and big ad platforms have done it for years. What bothers us is the default. Rewriting ads and changing where they send people are big choices, and switching them on for existing campaigns, with no preview, puts the burden on busy owners to notice.
If you run ChatGPT ads, spend ten minutes today deciding on purpose. If you keep the feature on, treat your whole website as ad copy and clean it up. If your pages aren't ready for that, turn it off until they are.

What to do today
- Open Ads Manager and check the creative enhancements setting under Manage settings.
- Check every campaign, because campaign settings beat the account default.
- Clean up your landing pages. Remove expired promos, old prices and claims you wouldn't want quoted.
- Save a baseline. Export today's spend and real orders, so you can compare after the rewrites start.
- Not advertising on ChatGPT? Nothing to do.
