TL;DR

Is Apple adding AI to Keynote, Pages and Numbers?

Yes. Apple said Tuesday that a beta AI assistant is coming to Keynote, Pages and Numbers in November for Creator Studio subscribers. If you make decks, proposals or sheets in these apps, a paid plan now gets you an AI helper inside them. Nothing to do yet. Wait for November.

What is Apple adding to Keynote, Pages and Numbers?

On October 27, 2026, Apple announced an update to Apple Creator Studio, its subscription bundle of creative apps. The biggest change for small businesses is a beta assistant inside Keynote, Pages and Numbers. Apple says it's "built on Apple models and OpenAI" and understands the document you have open.

  • Keynote: it helps design, animate and refine slides.
  • Pages: it drafts, restructures and fine-tunes writing.
  • Numbers: it calculates and organizes data, recommends chart types with a one-tap preview, and builds custom tables.

The three apps also get MCP support. MCP, short for Model Context Protocol, is a common way for AI agents to plug into other software. Apple says it lets outside AI agents and tools "read content, perform edits, and execute automated actions" inside your files.

Creators get updates too: built-in MotionVFX effects in Final Cut Pro, a beta assistant and drum stem splitting in Logic Pro, and Generate Fill in Pixelmator Pro, which changes part of an image based on what you describe.

What does it cost, and what do I need?

Keynote, Pages and Numbers stay free. The AI features are the part you pay for.

Our take

The assistant is nice, but the MCP part matters more. Right now, getting an AI agent to build a deck usually means exporting, pasting and fixing. If agents can work right inside Keynote or Numbers, that busywork shrinks, much like the computer-use agents we saw from OpenAI this week.

The flip side is access. An agent that can edit your files can also mess them up. And US$12.99 a month is real money if you only open Pages twice a week. Apple hasn't said which OpenAI model it uses or what the usage limits are, so the value is still a guess.

What to do before November

  1. Check that your Mac, iPad or iPhone supports Apple Intelligence. Without it, the assistant won't run.
  2. Hold off on subscribing just for this. The features aren't out yet.
  3. Keep a copy of important files before you let any AI agent edit them.
  4. Outside the U.S. or working in another language? The assistant is U.S. English only for now.
