About 10 minutes of review to close
TL;DR
What did u/Crypticarts use Xero for?
A business owner with about 5,000 transactions a month has DeepSeek check and reconcile journal entries from Xero, then Claude validates the trial balance, builds the statements and writes commentary. Their month-end close now takes about 10 minutes of review. They called it fully automated, with month-end close taking about 10 minutes of their review.
What they did
Xero is connected to their bank accounts, and the journal entries and bank transactions are stored in Google Cloud Platform, which DeepSeek and Claude both connect to. DeepSeek, which they use for cheap, simple tasks, validates the journal entries, reconciles the accounts and produces the first trial balance. Claude checks it, produces the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement, handles adjustments and depreciation, and escalates anything new or judgment-based to them. If there are no major variances, it writes commentary for them to review.
How it went
They called it fully automated, with month-end close taking about 10 minutes of their review.
"I review what that looks like and closing takes about 10 minutes of me reviewing it."

Worth knowing
- This is a technical setup with a cloud data store and a custom connector. They suggest a simpler version for others: export entries from QuickBooks or Xero and copy and paste them between DeepSeek and Claude. They say a business with much larger volumes would eventually need an analyst.
- Price check: DeepSeek: free plan; Free (checked Oct 26, 2026); Claude: free plan; Pro: US$20/month, or US$17/month on a yearly plan (US$200/year) (checked Nov 1, 2026).
