Teacher exports a NotebookLM slide deck to PowerPoint, then uses Canva's Magic Eraser to replace the baked-in text

TL;DR

What did @alicekeeler use Canva for?

NotebookLM's slide decks come out as images, so the wording can't be edited directly. An educator exported one as PowerPoint, imported it into Canva, and used Magic Eraser's Text option to wipe the words and write their own. They shared the edited slide with the original text removed and noted that the Text option is easy to miss because it sits near the end of the Magic Eraser options.

What they did

They had NotebookLM create a presentation from their source notes, exported it as PowerPoint, and imported the file into Canva. Because each slide background is an image, they picked Magic Eraser, scrolled the options to Text, removed the text, and added their own wording.

How it went

They shared the edited slide with the original text removed and noted that the Text option is easy to miss because it sits near the end of the Magic Eraser options.

Worth knowing

  • Magic Eraser is on eligible Canva plans. Zoom in after erasing to check for leftover marks, and erase a slightly larger area if needed. Retype the content yourself, since the original words are gone from the slide.
  • Price check: Canva: free plan; Canva Pro: US$18/month, or US$12/month on a yearly plan (US$144/year) (checked Oct 26, 2026).

Paste this into a chatbot, then add your own details underneath.

(In NotebookLM, open Studio and create a slide deck from your sources.) "Make a 6-slide presentation for [audience] on [topic], one idea per slide, short headings." Then export it as PowerPoint, import it into Canva, select a slide image, choose Edit > Magic Eraser > Text, erase, and add your own text boxes.
