TL;DR
What did @jemxnn use NotebookLM for?
Preparing for an Engineering Physics exam, a student uploaded lecture notes, PDFs and study material into NotebookLM so its explanations, chapter summaries and practice questions came from what they were actually studying, without re-explaining the syllabus every time. They say the biggest difference was context: they no longer had to keep explaining what material they were using. After one exam they want to use it for every subject.
What they did
They uploaded their lecture notes, PDFs and other study material, then asked it to explain concepts from the notes, trace answers back to the relevant material, summarize whole chapters, generate questions and connect ideas across documents, on topics like quantum mechanics, wavefunctions, the uncertainty principle and blackbody radiation.
How it went
They say the biggest difference was context: they no longer had to keep explaining what material they were using. After one exam they want to use it for every subject.
Worth knowing
- Answers are only as good as the notes you upload, so add the official slides or textbook chapters too. Click through the citations to check anything that could come up in your exam.
Try it yourself
Paste this into a chatbot, then add your own details underneath.
Using only my uploaded notes, explain [concept] in simple terms, then show where in my notes it comes from. After that, give me 5 exam-style questions on it, one at a time, and tell me what I got wrong after each answer.
