Claude Code, Codex, Riverside, ffmpeg, yt-dlp, Cloudflare Tunnel

TL;DR
What did u/canuck_amok use Claude Code for?
Two burned-out podcast cohosts who release video and audio had Claude Code cut their episodes with ffmpeg in the style of past episodes, then moved the setup to a server so both of them can give notes and run the same editor. They released their first episode fully edited by Claude. After the move to the server, they say edits are more consistent, it got a lot cheaper, and it usually takes one round of notes each. Running it within their weekly Claude limits sometimes takes two 5-hour limit windows.
What they did
They had Claude use yt-dlp to study the episodes on their channel and write a design brief. Then they upload new Riverside recordings and ask it to cut an episode in the same style with ffmpeg, give notes on the rough first cut, mark where they want b-roll and transitions, and have it add captions on the final pass. Claude built a set of skills for repeat problems such as audio drift between cameras. In an update three weeks later, they moved editing to a server they already had: both cohosts record a five-minute voice note with the edit plan, review each render through a shared link, and leave notes that either person's Claude Code session can pick up.

Worth knowing
- The first cut is usually poor and needs notes. Early on they paid overage charges because they were impatient. One commenter warned that word timestamps from a transcript aren't clean cut points and suggested snapping cuts to the nearest silence. Another said deciding what to keep, not the cutting itself, is where most editing time goes.
- Price check: Claude: free plan; Pro: US$20/month, or US$17/month on a yearly plan (US$200/year) (checked Nov 1, 2026); Riverside: free plan; Pro: US$29/month, or US$24/month on a yearly plan (US$288/year) (checked Oct 26, 2026).

Here are my notes for this episode's edit: [voice-note transcript]. Before cutting anything, turn them into a numbered edit list with timestamps from the transcript, and mark any note you're unsure how to apply. Snap every cut to the nearest silence rather than to word timestamps.
