TL;DR
What did u/lifebeyondzebra use Claude for?
A home cook keeps every recipe in a Notion database with images, and since connecting it to Claude just sends a link or recipe for Claude to add with all the details, or asks it to pick five meals and make a grocery list. They say Claude adds recipes faster than doing it by hand, and that all the images are now there without them spending their own time on it. They shared a public view of the database in the thread.
What they did
They moved their recipes from their notes app into a Notion database with tags, and used Claude to bring it up to date, including adding images to recipes that had no visuals. With the database connected to Claude, they send it a link or a recipe and it adds the page with all the details. Instead of tracking pantry stock, they have Claude pick five recipes and make a list, and sometimes a meal plan.

Worth knowing
- They call it a bit over-engineered. Without the Claude connection you can still paste recipes in by hand. A commenter suggested adding an ingredients database to search by what you have on hand.
- Price check: Claude: free plan; Pro: US$20/month, or US$17/month on a yearly plan (US$200/year) (checked Nov 1, 2026); Notion: free plan; Plus: US$12/month, or US$10/month on a yearly plan (US$120/year) (checked Oct 26, 2026).

Add this recipe to my Notion recipe database: [link or pasted recipe]. Fill in the name, cuisine, meal type, prep and cook time, servings, ingredient list, steps and tags, and keep the source link at the bottom of the page. Then pick five dinners from the database for this week that share ingredients and give me one grocery list.
