TL;DR

What did Angelo Diaz use Claude Code for?

A video editor pointed Claude Code at their footage folder and a DaVinci Resolve project, had it transcribe and build a rough cut across camera and screen-recording tracks, then spent under 30 minutes cleaning it up. Claude built the rough cut in about 20 to 30 minutes. Their own manual cleanup took a little under 30 minutes.

What they did

They synced the camera clip and a screen recording in Resolve using the lav mic audio and saved it as an untouched baseline sequence, so they could always fall back to editing by hand. Then they opened Claude Code in the footage folder and pasted a long rough-cut prompt asking it to remove dead air and flubs. Claude made a transcript and a cut list and built a new version with 57 clips, keeping both tracks lined up and adding section markers. They had it duplicate the timeline before trying anything risky.

How it went

Claude built the rough cut in about 20 to 30 minutes. Their own manual cleanup took a little under 30 minutes.

Worth knowing

  • A few cuts clipped words and needed fixing. An attempt to auto-zoom to the mouse cursor failed, which is why they worked on a duplicate. Their earlier try with ChatGPT and Premiere Pro ran out of credits before any editing happened.
  • Price check: Claude: free plan; Pro: US$20/month, or US$17/month on a yearly plan (US$200/year) (checked Nov 1, 2026); DaVinci Resolve: free plan; DaVinci Resolve Studio: US$236 one-time (checked Nov 1, 2026).

Here is the transcript of my talking-head recording with timestamps [paste]. Make a cut list that removes dead air over [1] second, false starts, and repeated takes (keep the last good take). Output a table of keep ranges with start and end times and a one-line note on why each removed section was cut, so I can check it before building the timeline.
