TL;DR

What did @fmercaldo use ChatGPT for?

A domain name seller exported their 1,200+ listings into an Excel file, asked ChatGPT to identify the top 50 that were severely underpriced, and adjusted 80 of 100 suggestions right away. ChatGPT came back with observations they called very intelligent, with many suggested prices far above their old ones (one went from 950 to 25,000). Out of 100 suggestions they adjusted 80 immediately and set the other 20 somewhere between their old price and ChatGPT's. They say they're very happy they did it.

What they did

They exported their full inventory of listed names, converted the file from Numbers to Excel because ChatGPT reads it more easily, and went several rounds with the prompt "Identify my top 50 domains that are severely under-priced." Then they did the same for one category of names and other verticals.

How it went

ChatGPT came back with observations they called very intelligent, with many suggested prices far above their old ones (one went from 950 to 25,000). Out of 100 suggestions they adjusted 80 immediately and set the other 20 somewhere between their old price and ChatGPT's. They say they're very happy they did it.

Worth knowing

  • They don't report sales at the new prices yet. ChatGPT's price ideas are opinions, not market data, so sanity-check them against real recent sales before changing anything.
  • Price check: ChatGPT: free plan; Go: US$8/month (checked Nov 1, 2026).
