TL;DR
What did Make Videos with Ross use Claude Desktop for?
A Descript trainer connected Claude Desktop to Descript and had it remove bad takes and filler words, add chapter titles, speed up long pauses and publish the project, then counted the credits it used. The whole video was edited this way. They say: "I'm in awe. Like a computer just edited my video for me."
What they did
They added Descript as a connector in the Claude desktop app (it does not work in the browser) and set publishing to always ask permission. With a raw 15-minute recording in Descript, they told Claude to edit out bad takes and only ums and ahs while avoiding harsh cuts, pasted a transcript line to restore an intro it cut by mistake, asked what else the video needed and accepted only chapter titles, an outro and a hook check, told it to speed up gaps of 5 seconds or more, asked it to make the screen share fill the frame everywhere, and finally had it publish to a web link.
How it went
The whole video was edited this way. They say: "I'm in awe. Like a computer just edited my video for me."
Worth knowing
- Claude cut a wanted intro, added an AI clip they didn't want as the outro, and wrongly said Descript caps speed at 10x. The session used about 400 Descript credits, which they say is half the monthly allowance on the Creator plan, so "This probably isn't a sustainable thing to do for every single video yet." Chat turns also count against Claude usage.
- Price check: Claude: free plan; Pro: US$20/month, or US$17/month on a yearly plan (US$200/year) (checked Nov 1, 2026); Descript: free plan; Hobbyist: US$24/month, or US$16/month on a yearly plan (US$192/year) (checked Oct 26, 2026).

Look at my Descript project again, I've updated it. Edit out the bad takes and filler words. Only remove ums and ahs, leave all other words and avoid harsh cuts. Then list anything you're unsure about so I can spot-check it.
