TL;DR

What did Julia Thompson use Claude for?

A freelance podcast producer feeds each episode transcript into one long saved Claude prompt that drafts show notes, a YouTube package, clip picks, an email, Instagram Stories, Pinterest pins, a carousel and a blog post. Then they check every quote against the transcript. They say the prompt gets them about 80% of the way. They still review the copy, edit the footage, make the graphics and let the client pick the final clips.

What they did

For a client's podcast, they give Claude the transcript with instructions built around the client's voice, audience and each platform. One saved prompt produces show notes and chapters, a YouTube package, four to six short clip candidates, an email newsletter, a four-frame Instagram Story series, Pinterest pin ideas, a carousel and a blog post. It bans invented links, statistics and quotes and labels timestamps as approximate. Whenever they make the same correction twice, they add it to the instructions. They cut and caption the vertical clips in Descript.

How it went

They say the prompt gets them about 80% of the way. They still review the copy, edit the footage, make the graphics and let the client pick the final clips.

Worth knowing

  • They check every quote against the transcript because Claude can write a lovely sentence the host never said. Some clips that sound great need five minutes of earlier context, so they skip them. The prompt is long and needs filling in once for each brand.
  • Price check: Claude: free plan; Pro: US$20/month, or US$17/month on a yearly plan (US$200/year) (checked Nov 1, 2026); Descript: free plan; Hobbyist: US$24/month, or US$16/month on a yearly plan (US$192/year) (checked Oct 26, 2026).
