TL;DR

What did Alex Willen (The Automated Operator) use Claude for?

A small e-commerce owner who admits SEO was never their strength gave Claude access to their Shopify store and Google Search Console, approved its fixes for missing titles, meta descriptions and alt text, and let it post one blog article a day. After a few weeks they report no big traffic jump, but clicks and impressions are up, the cleaned-up pages moved up in search results and a couple of sales came in.

What they did

They started with a plain question: they have a Shopify site, don't know much about SEO, and can Claude do SEO for it. Claude offered cleanup, Search Console-based blog posts and link outreach; they picked the first two and skipped outreach because they didn't want an AI emailing people. They gave Claude store access through a custom Shopify app (they later learned a Claude connector for Shopify already exists) and added Claude's Google service account to the Search Console property. Claude proposed fixes for unlinked old pages, missing alt text, SEO titles and meta descriptions, they eyeballed the list and approved it, and Claude set up a daily job to publish one article plus a weekly email on how the pages are performing.

How it went

After a few weeks they report no big traffic jump, but clicks and impressions are up, the cleaned-up pages moved up in search results and a couple of sales came in.

Worth knowing

  • Claude warned that publishing hundreds of posts at once would likely be treated badly by Google, which is why it posts one a day. The writer openly calls the AI-written posts slop and says most of the earlier visitors to similar posts rarely bought anything.
  • Price check: Claude: free plan; Pro: US$20/month, or US$17/month on a yearly plan (US$200/year) (checked Nov 1, 2026); Shopify: no free plan; Basic: US$39/month, or US$29/month on a yearly plan (US$348/year) (checked Oct 28, 2026).

I have a Shopify store for [brand] and don't know much about SEO. Review every product, collection and page and list what's missing or weak: SEO titles, meta descriptions, image alt text and unlinked old pages. Propose the exact new text for each in a table, and don't change anything until I approve.
