THEIR CLAIM

4 to 5 hours down to about an hour a week

TL;DR

What did Laura Zavelson use Claude for?

A marketing consultant who has sent over 180 newsletters keeps a Claude Project with voice, client profile, business and point-of-view files, generates a year of topics in one prompt, and turns spoken notes into drafts. They say "Claude turned this from what was a 4 to 5 hour job into something that takes me about an hour a week."

What they did

They set up a Claude Project called newsletters, with the goal of better-fit referrals, and upload four context files: brand voice, ideal client, business and point of view. Once or twice a year they ask for 52 newsletter ideas split across problem insights, case studies, frameworks, opinions and forward-this pitches, and save them to a Google Doc in the project. For each issue they speak their rough thoughts, let Claude organize them into a draft doc, and edit the last 10% themselves. Workshop and podcast transcripts also become issues. They write two or three at a time and schedule ahead.

How it went

They say "Claude turned this from what was a 4 to 5 hour job into something that takes me about an hour a week."

Worth knowing

  • They warn the first few drafts won't be great and will take longer than expected; it improves after three or four issues and only works if the context files are uploaded. Every issue needs a call to action, often in a PS.

Given my goal of getting better-fit referrals, generate 52 newsletter ideas. Divide them evenly among: insights about the problem I solve, case studies, frameworks I use, opinions about my industry, and requests to forward to 2 or 3 industry leaders. Use my brand voice, ideal client and business files.
