What you’re working toward
Dify documents a retrieval pipeline that spans document ingestion and retrieval within an AI application.
Who it’s for: Teams evaluating a document assistant. Experience: intermediate.
A practical way to start
- Start with a small, approved collection and a set of questions with known answers.
- Configure a supported model and ingest the documents through the retrieval pipeline.
- Evaluate answers against the source material, including questions the documents cannot answer.
- Restrict access and repeat the evaluation after changing the collection or model.
Know the limits
- Retrieval quality depends on document preparation, model choice and evaluation.
- Do not treat a source-linked answer as automatically accurate.
- Hosting and provider usage are separate costs.
Cost and alternatives
Check the tool profiles and current provider plans before starting. Model usage, hosting and optional connectors may have separate costs. Alternative tools need their own configuration and evaluation.
